Where and when to practice Hand Mudras

If you try yoga or pranayama or any other form of natural healing, hand mudras are the easiest way among all these. There is no time constraint or location constraint or lifestyle constraint.

So overall mudras can be done in any posture, such as sitting or standing or walking or talking or in any other pose, but your hands should be free and your mind should be relaxed and without any worry. It always has additional advantage when you practice hand mudras in meditation. But if you have time constraints, do whenever you get time. After all doing something is better than nothing.  I believe, mudras are  the best way to maintain good health and be stress free in situation where you have to neglect your health the most due to time constraints.

There is a very famous quotes for mudras- ‘Health is in your hands’. .. and that is simply true and amazing.

I never forget to hold my hands in one of the mudras while watching movie for three hours and I generally prefer humour, so my mind is automatically relaxed and calm while watching movie. I know it is very hard to believe that such simple things can do miracle, but it is also true that our body is capable enough to do self healing. We have to equip it with right methods and it will cure all the ailments by itself. I am exploring all forms of natural healing methods. I always tell others that I want to give a special legacy to my son in forms of natural healing, because I know the health problems are increasing day by day and the future is not so bright in terms of general health, where every natural thing is replaced by a packed artificial thing. So we should give that kind of insight to our children that they can understand the nature well and utilize it for their wellbeing. But this wont be possible until we are fully aware of this. One thing is very essential for gaining health benefits of natural healing such as mudras- have faith and keep patience.

Your disease does not get developed over night, it takes months and year to reach a particular stage, and in similar way, curing of the disease also needs time. Chemical drugs have that power to show the recovering symptoms within few hours, but alternative therapy needs some time to show results, since it reaches the base of disease and kill the root itself so that disease is completely cured.

As I told above, there is no time and place constraint for mudras, but still there are certain ways where it shows more beneficial results. Below are few things needs to be taken care while doing mudras .

1) It is advisable to do mudras in meditative harmonious mood to get the most benefits out of it.

Mediation is a way to life. Read below posts that will inspire you to take up mediation:

2) Best time to mudra is few minutes before getting up out of the bed or few minutes before falling asleep. At that time, we are out of the life’s hustle bustle and mind is relaxed.

3) It is important not to practice plenty of mudras on random, Select one or two and practice as per plan and time schedule. Decide when, how often and how long you would prefer to do them every day.

4) For acute complaints, it takes several weeks or even months before it shows effect. So have faith and keep patience.

How long to practice Hand Mudras?

1)Generally a mudra should be held for 45 min in a day. Chronic disease can be cured in this way. But if it is not possible to do it in one single go then split the duration into three time periods of 15 min each. And practice hand mudras for 15 min in morning, afternoon and in the evening or night.

2) It should be done like medication. It is recommended to determine time duration for which a mudra needs to be held every day by the person and then follow a routine. It is beneficial in chronic disease to do it on daily basis.

3) It should be done daily at the same time and for the same length of time.

4) Mudras that are used for acute disease such as respiratory, circulatory problems, flatulence or inner restlessness– should be discontinued when appropriate effect is achieved.

5)Other generic mudras can be done for 5-30 minutes, 3-4 times daily.

The effect of a mudra may be perceived immediately or only after a certain amount of time. You  will start feeling  warm, the sense of un-wellness and pain will fade away, your mood improves, and your mind is refreshed. But exactly the opposite may occur at the start. You become tired, or start to feel cold and shiver. This is also a positive sign of the effect.

Over to you:

When you will sit for doing the Mudra and spend some time in meditation, you will find yourself connected to the inner self, your mind will rest at the peace. It will have long lasting effect on your wellbeing. Everyone should explore the rich and vastness of Mudras. It is simply miraculous.

Yes you can do Mudras anytime, anywhere. There is no limitation. But for some mudras there are some advisory note. for example – Surya Mudra, since it increases the fire in the body, so it is advisable to drink more water.
