Vata Naashak Mudra for Vaata dosha

Vata is one of the humor constituent of the body. Naashak means to seize or reduce. Hence Vata naasak as the name suggest brings about a reduction of the Vata humor within the body.Now first understand what is vata. Ayurveda is based on three principles namely vata, pitta & kapha. if there is an imbalance in these three doshas body get at disease. Vata composed of air and space.

Sanskrit translation of this word is ‘ that which moves things’. Vata governs every movement in body and mind. It controls flow of blood, waste elimination, breathing and the also movement of thoughts across the mind. Since Kapha and Pitta and cannot move without it, Vata is considered the leader of the three Ayurvedic Principles in the body. But the excess of vata can make us susceptible to feeling more scattered,  fearful and worried than usual.So it becomes important to balance vata dosha.

How to Perform Vata Naashak mudra?

Vaata Naashak Mudra

Place the tip of index and middle finger on to the base of thumb and then putting gentle pressure of the thumb on these fingers. Other fingers should be stretched straight.

Specialty of Vata Nashak Mudra

Practice of Vata naashak mudra pacifies the aggravated Vata humor. It is an excellent mudra for people with a aggravated Vata constitution or Vata dosha. In fact, it can be practiced regularly to avoid mental instability and physical discomfort. However, people who already have a deficiency of Vata should practice this mudra in moderation, if at all.
