He would definitely miss the paycheck, but he needed to retire. The contractor was said to see that one of his best worker is going. But he requested him one thing. He asked him to build one last house on his personal favor. The carpenter could not resist and agreed to build one more house obn his boss’s request. but in time, he lost his interest to work and his heart was not in his work. He resorted to shoddy workmanship and used inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end his career. When the carpenter finished his work and the builder came to inspect the house. the contractor handed the front door key to the carpenter and with a pleasant smile told him “This is your house,” “A gift from my side on your retirement.” The carpenter went into the shock. He did not expect this. He did not have the slightest clue that he is building his own house. If he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently and with his whole heart and enthusiasm.
Now he had to live in the home he had built with less interest and low grade material. This is true in every situation. It is true with us all. We build our own houses. Most of the time we build our lives in a distracted way, reacting rather than acting, most of the time we put up less than the best. At important points or spot in life, we do not give the job our best effort. We can simply look back and analyze our past and I am sure, we would regret few situations where we did not give 100%. And today we are living in a house, which we built long time ago. And we start blaming situations, people for all this. If we had realized the outcome earlier; we would have done it differently..right…..
Build your own home with passion and interest:
Now this moment onwards, Think of yourself as the carpenter. Think about your house which you have to build. Each day you hammer a nail, place a board, or erect a wall. Build wisely. It is the only life you will ever build. Even if tomorrow is gonna is your last day, that day deserves to be lived graciously and with dignity.
The plaque on the wall says, “Life is a do-it-yourself project.”
Your life today is the result of your attitudes and choices in the past. Your life tomorrow will be the result of your attitudes and the choices you make today. So make a wise choice. Make a choice from the corner of your heart. Justify whatever you are doing to your heart, and if you get a go head. Proceed on building your own home with passion and enthusiasm.
